Vietnam Unveils New Airport Development Plan (airport technology)

The Vietnamese Government has unveiled plans to build an airport at Long Thanh in the southern province of Dong Nai for an initial investment of over $6.75bn.

Under the 5,000ha airport plan, the construction of the airport will be built in three phases and will commence in 2015 and be completed by 2035.

The first phase of the project will start in 2015 and is scheduled for completion in 2020 to admit A380-300 airplanes.

The airport will have three runways and will be capable of handling 50 million passengers and 1.5 million tons of cargo a year.

After the completion of the third phase by 2030, the airport will have four runways and the capacity to serve 100 million passengers and handle five million tons of cargo a year.
