HANOI, Nov 15 (NNN-VNS) — Viet Nam attached much importance to boosting co-operation with Myanmar for the prosperity of each country and the development of ASEAN, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said.
Speaking with visiting Commander-in-Chief of Myanmar’s Defence Service, General Min Aung Hlaing at a reception in Ha Noi Monday, Dung applauded the outcome of talks and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on national defence co-operation between the two countries.
The Prime Minister stressed that Viet Nam was glad to see the achievements Myanmar had obtained, especially its successful general election and establishment of a new Government.
He said he wanted the two countries to strengthen co-operation in economy, trade, investment and support each other in multilateral forums.
While affirming to support the strengthening of co-operation in national defence and security between the two countries, Dung requested Myanmar support military enterprises to invest in the country, especially in the areas of telecommunications, banking and agriculture.
In reply, General Min Aung Hlaing affirmed the new Government of Myanmar had opened its door to attract investment, and Viet Nam was a country that the Myanmar Government trusted to mutually co-operate and develop. — NNN-VNS
